Maria Mazuchova - Capakova
Welcome to the portfolio of works by Maria Mazuchova-Capakova. By clicking on an artwork, you will open the full view with details.
Maria M. Capakova is a multidisciplinary artist with a background in photography, graphic design, and painting.
Her painting style is meticulous and detailed, combined with deeply thought-out ideas about daily human experience, captured in a bright, modern pop-surrealist style. Unlike surrealists or pop-surrealists, replacing the uncanny with positive energy, her aesthetic is crafted to uplift and energize space. The whole mission of her Royal Eyes studio brand is to influence people's inner state through visual art. She firmly believes that what people hang on their walls is crucial—it matters, and it is supposed to bring energy to a home, not deplete it.
Maria creates medium- to large-format paintings. In an interior, the paintings function as statement pieces that anchor the spatial architecture and define the room’s atmosphere.

The message of the painting is carefully crafted. It's about empowerment and the courage to be who we are supposed to be, which results in total liberty.
The chessboard represents life. It's an ancient symbol expressing the positive and negative aspects of existence—the duality of this 3D world. However, I made a major change to the black squares by replacing them with red, as red is the color of energy, strength, and courage.
Pawns stand for common human beings rising through perseverance. In chess, the pawn is the only piece that can turn into something more powerful (a queen) if it reaches the end of its path.
The knight in chess is depicted as a living being—a horse. In psychology (especially Jungian), the horse represents our vital energy. It is the raw power that carries the human spirit forward. Its unpredictable movement in an L-shape is seen as the ability to jump over obstacles, but it can also symbolize synchronicity—when multiple things happen at once in a way that logic couldn't predict.
The horse in the painting is not a standard chess piece, but rather a real, wild, and powerful animal, showing its majestic beauty and physical strength. It stands in contrast to the rigid, geometric base of the chessboard and the pawns.
The elegant lady in white (symbolizing purity) holds the horse steady without fear, with her gaze pinned forward toward the future. Together, they are free to go anywhere and do anything. They are capable of breaking the rules and running off the chessboard to explore the universe.
Lastly, the whole scene is set under a bright blue sky, where the chessboard seems to be floating in the air. It is a surreal space of possibilities.

The painting was created as a commission for the Bratislava Volunteering Center (Bratislavské dobrovoľnícke centrum) to embody and express the spirit of Slovak volunteers.
To serve with open hands and honest intentions is something profoundly beautiful. That’s why I wanted this painting to feel beautiful. I did my best to bring a piece of heavenly sensation to it, something viewer could feel when looking at it.
At the heart of the painting stands a woman. There are several reasons for this choice. We often associate women with beauty, but also with nurturing, love, care, motherhood, and devotion — all qualities that embody the spirit of volunteering.
The bird resting on the young woman’s hand is a sparrow, symbolizing Slovak volunteers. Sparrows are small, often unnoticed, yet deeply social creatures that thrive in cooperation. They are caring, resilient, and adaptable.
Finally, the crown of daisies — simple, pure, joyful meadow flowers typical of Slovakia — represents purity, innocence, simplicity, and happiness.
Together, these symbols come together to form a portrait of Slovak volunteering.

The painting Flirt is a multi-faceted, surreal depiction of flirting as a human behavior.
Flirting is light, bright, innocent, yet very real, deep, almost raw. It is an expression of our energy, which we should be in a healthy relationship with. Denying this power causes stagnation and aversion to life. How often do we think of life as something we can flirt with? We can – and it is empowering.

Self-esteem instead of toxic sweetness. "Too Sweet Too" is a complementary painting to "The Sweet, Sweet Girl". Both paintings are a call for inner liberation from the expectations of society but also from unreasonable demands on oneself.

A sweet girl is a character who, like “The Good Girl”, wants to do everything right. To be kind and to be perceived as good. But kindness without limits, kindness without reason, blind kindness, kindness that comes from underestimating or overlooking oneself can only bite the person back. "Kindness" can be poisonous. It must be handled correctly so that it is beautiful and genuine.

"The Good, Good Girl" is a story of a girl who wanted to do everything right her whole life.
The painting talks about the invisible social indoctrination of women and its consequences. The idea is based on personal experiences and observations of a society that shapes women from a young age. The goodness though, should come from freedom and love, not conforming to social expectations. I focus on exploring the impact of social norms on women and I try to find a path to inner peace and liberation.

„Vždy som si myslel, že aby bolo umenie skvelé, musí byť úprimné. Ale čoraz viac si uvedomujem, že úprimnosť je umenie.“ (Autor).
Obraz Čestnosť je povzdychom nad 21. storočím, ale aj krásnym uvedomením si, aké očisťujúce je byť úprimný.

The painting 'Enchanted' explores love as a universe. It compares it to a dance during which our souls blossom. When love flows, the steps are unplanned, but right, spontaneous and beautiful. But when it doesn't, the steps are just a calculated charade.

Learning The Truth 2025 (Poznávanie pravdy 2025 – in Slovak language) is an emotional depiction of the decay of society. It represents a warning from disinformation, lies, hate and evil, as a profound impact on the most vulnerable ones – our children, and therefore, our future.
